Fine Contemporary and Traditional Embroidery – November 2025

We are holding an auction November 19-24, 2025.

We are returning to an online auction with Bartlett Auction House again this year. Bartlett Auction is located on the 7th floor of Atlantic Place in downtown St. John’s. You must register at their website in order to place a bid. For more information, please contact Kitty at kdrake00@gmail.com.

We encourage you to view the exquisite work of the St. John’s Guild of Embroiderers, fall in love with these treasures, and take them home or give them to someone special as a gift. You can preview them online at Bartlett Auction House, or in-person at their location on the 7th floor, Atlantic Place.

There are about 150 items on view, of varying techniques, styles, colours, and vignettes. There may be something, or more, here for you! Here is a sample of the works to be found:

Important dates:

  • 19 November (Wednesday) – auction opens, online bidding starts
  • 23 November (Sunday), & 24 November (Monday) 10AM-5PM – in-person viewing of pieces at Bartlett Auction House
  • 24 November (Monday), 6PM – auction starts to close; get your final bid in before the online system closes! (See information on bidding below)
  • 24 November (Monday) – successful bidders notified and arrangements set up to collect winning pieces on the 25th.
  • 25 November (Tuesday), 10AM-6PM – successful bidders pick up items at Bartlett Auction House, 7th Floor, Atlantic Place.

Information on Bidding, Viewing, Payment, and Pick up

Bidding for this auction begins online on Wednesday, November 19 and will start to close, Monday, November 24 at 6PM.

For fairness and ease of bid management, this auction features:

  • Staggered Close – For example if on Monday Lot # 1 closes at 6:00PM, Lot # 2 will closes 6:01PM, Lot # 3 will close at 6:02PM and so on…
  • Soft-Close – If a bid is received in the final 60 seconds before a lot closes, the countdown will reset to 60 seconds for that Lot # only. The Lot will finally close when no bids are received in the final 60 seconds.
    No other scheduled closing times are affected.

The auction ends when the last item closes.

Payment and Extra Fees

Invoices will be automatically sent to the email of the winning bidder. Please check your Junk Mail if you do not receive the invoice or go to your Account on the main page of the Bartlett Auction website and pay from the credit card you have on file or e-transfer.

Extra Fees: the credit card fee of approximately 3% and all packaging and shipping charges will be added to your invoice if you are the successful bidder and your shipping address is outside the St. John’s metro area.

This is a complimentary community service provided by Bartlett Auctions. No HST is applicable and no Buyer’s Premium is applied.
